Pastor Joshua Free was born in New Carlisle, OH, on May 31, 1985 to Keith and Rachel Free. Josh was received into God's kingdom through the waters of holy Baptism on June 6, 1985. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran grade school in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He then traveled south to Watertown, WI where he began his ministerial education at Luther Preparatory School. Pastor Free went to New Ulm, MN to begin his pastoral studies at Martin Luther College (MLC). At MLC, Pastor Free studied Hebrew and Greek, the original languages of the Bible, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the Scriptures. He then enrolled at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary for further studies in the original languages. There, Pastor Free also studied the many doctrines found in the Bible; he was educated in church history, and learned practical issues for pastoral ministry. He served as a Vicar/intern (third year at Seminary) at Peace Lutheran church in Kokomo, IN.
Pastor Free was married to his wife, Joey, on July 17, 2009. Their first child, Eloise Rachel, was born on April 25, 2014. Besides spending time with his family, Pastor Free enjoys playing golf, reading, watching TV, and walks with Joey. Above all, he loves serving his Lord and the people God has placed in his life.
At Abiding Peace, Pastor Free is responsible for teaching Adult Bible class, Bible Information class, and Confirmation classes. He conducts our weekly worship services and attends various meetings at the church. He also visits the sick and shut-ins, as well as conducts funeral and wedding services.
